Hope and Healing with The Art of Emotion

Rachel Flicker is a licensed professional counselor who graduated from Chestnut Hill College in 2016 with a degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Trauma Studies. She completed her undergraduate degree at Shippensburg University, where she majored in Psychology. While completing an internship during her undergrad, she worked in a community group home where she began to see a pattern of trauma and its correlation with mental health. This is why she specifically chose Chestnut Hill College to understand the intricacies of trauma.

“Even if we don’t have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there”. This quote is a constant reminder of why being trained in trauma-informed care is so important for Rachel. People from all walks of life have their own personal history. This can often lead to mental health concerns. She believes everyone can adapt, grow, and change no matter their background.

Rachel has experience working in several different areas. She started out working in community mental health, providing individual, family, and group therapy to adults, children/adolescents, and their families through in-person and telehealth services. She has experience working as a school-based clinician with children and adolescents in public and charter schools. Through this experience, she has collaborated with teachers and school administration and supported families navigating IEPs and tier 3 supports.

Rachel uses a strength-based approach to support and treat individuals who experience anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBTQ+ challenges, self-esteem, and anger management. In addition, she uses a combination of person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), play therapy, and art therapy to support each of her clients individually.

Rachel also has an interest in perinatal and postpartum mental health and hopes to pursue her Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C).

In her free time, she loves being outside and taking walks with her dogs. Her two little boys keep her and her husband very busy. When she can, she likes to try new restaurants with friends.
