Julianne Brownhill, BS, OTR/L, is a Licensed Occupational Therapist with more than 34 years of experience helping children feel more comfortable in their bodies, more confident in their abilities, and more successful in everyday life. She supports children who experience sensory processing differences, emotional regulation challenges, and executive functioning needs, and helps them achieve daily independence, using a practical and encouraging approach that meets kids where they are.
Julianne works closely with families and interdisciplinary teams, providing services across home, school, and community settings. She also offers virtual family training that gives caregivers realistic, doable strategies they can use right away during the moments that tend to feel hardest, including morning routines, homework time, transitions, mealtimes, and bedtime.
Her clinical experience includes supporting children with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning differences, developmental delays, and complex medical needs, including feeding challenges. For many children, occupational Therapy helps strengthen the connection between the body and the brain by blending sensory and motor supports with executive functioning and daily living skills. This foundation can improve participation in school, relationships, and family routines.
Occupational Therapy can be a powerful complement to Child-Centered Play Therapy, especially for children who feel everything and struggle to stay regulated. In the same way that Play Therapy supports children in expressing feelings in developmentally appropriate ways through play, Occupational Therapy supports regulation and everyday functioning so children can carry coping and confidence into real life. When paired together, this collaboration can deepen progress by supporting both emotional expression and the practical skills children need to feel capable and steady day to day.
